PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINE STUDY

Study background

Pneumococcal disease is one of the largest vaccine-preventable causes of death in children and older adults worldwide. This is a research study looking at a preventative vaccine for pneumococcal disease in people aged 50 years and older. It has been designed to hopefully provide a broader disease coverage compared to currently approved pneumococcal vaccinations.

In the study, you will either receive the new pneumococcal vaccine or a current approved pneumococcal vaccine.

Study Details

The study would require you to come to the clinic 2-7 times over a 6 month-2 year period, depending on the assigned study group. Visits will range between 15 minutes and 90 minutes each time you come in. Over the course of the study, we will check your medical history, take your bloods, and administer the vaccine. You will also need to complete an e-diary over the course of the study recording any symptoms you may experience.

You will be reimbursed for your time and involvement in the research study.
